Information about A Helping Hand

About

A Helping Hand (AHH) is a not-for-profit organisation designed around the idea that ‘all the money in the world does not change lives, people change lives’. The organisation aims to provide a simple, direct platform to deliver real, practical assistance to those vulnerable and disadvantaged families in their local communities, or ‘own backyards’.

Understanding that welfare organisation, schools, and governments cannot tackle these issues on their own, there is a real need for community involvement. Social and community networks are essential for children and their family’s wellbeing; increasing access to resources, information, and friends and neighbors assisting those in need to manage daily problems. From this arose the idea of A Helping Hand, a website platform for individuals, businesses, and community and sporting groups to be connected to those in need through registered support agencies.

This Christmas will be harder for many local individuals and families.

Together with the Deakin FreelancingHUB and Woolworths, A Helping Hand is launching a Christmas Campaign to ensure that no local family, child or individual feels alone this Christmas.
We hope to support the incredible work of our local community groups, health organisations and schools by  bringing this pilot program to the Corangamite Shire providing more opportunities for accessing community support and in turn empowering the community with the knowledge as to how they can really make a difference this Christmas.

AHH Christmas Campaign will also provide a launching pad and awareness campaign for the A Helping Hand platform which we plan to be in operation early 2021 to deliver ongoing assistance within our home towns.
